What are spiritual products?Spiritual products are oils, powders, baths, floor washes and incenses that are specially designed to help us strengthen our prayers with spiritual work. Spiritual work can range from something as simple as anointing a candle with oils and/or powders to works involving personal items and replicas of the person involved and beyond this to extensive multi-day processes involving offerings of food and libations in conjunction with other spiritual activities and prayers. The finest spiritual products are hand-made by a practitioner. These products typically are made with herbs and/or essential oils that hold the properties necessary for the task at hand. In the past, practitioners wild-crafted their own herbs. As spiritual products became an industry in and of itself, more practitioners sought the ease and convenience of purchasing products from spiritual supply stores. Today, only a few spiritual products made in the United States are hand-crafted. Most spiritual supply stores purchase manufactured products and re-label them to create their own brand. A few handcrafted product lines are: HerbalBrews, Queen Mother Bishop's Spiritual Products, New Orleans Mistic, and Erzulie's. All of these lines are produced in New Orleans, Louisiana by actual practitioners. How does one use spiritual products?Spiritual products can be used in a variety of ways. The most common methods for using oils in New Orleans is to "dress" (anoint) a candle before lighting it and making prayers or petitions. Here's a simple work to draw money: You will need:
Use the pencil to write your petition on the brown paper. Place a small amount of money oil and money powder onto the candle. Wrap the petition around the outside of the jar candle with the writing facing the candle. Use the rubber band to hold the paper in place. Make your prayers to the spirit and light the candle. Pray over the candle every day until it has burned completely out. As you can see from the above work, powders can be used on candles also. Another way we use powders is to sprinkle some of the powder onto the person one wishes to influence.
